Tapestry is a 401(c)3 non-profit organization, and every year gives back to the community by participating in a scholarship program that provides free dance classes to underprivileged families in the Austin area, and visits schools in the area as a part of our outreach program.
Moreover, Tapestry is proud to house our pre-apprentice youth company, Visions in Rhythm, and our non-professional, performing company Tapestry, Too! Tapestry’s youth academy also includes a Boys Tap program that encourages boys to put their tap shoes on and jam! Our youth program sends graduates to dance conservatories and university programs across the nation. We believe that dancers should dance for the sake of art and performance, rather than competitions and trophies.
Advice for first-timers? Come into class with an open mind, do your best, and have fun! Never judge yourself. Dancing is the best way to physical and mental health, and should make you feel confident and more agile. You have only the one body and must treat it with care and consideration. Be gentle, start slowly and wait patiently for the vast improvement that will come with time and effort.
